‘Hope you like the fine you get’: Entitled neighbors demand resident put their trash back in yard after he clears it out as a favor, resident complies, then reports them to the HOA

The people who refuse to deal with their own problems, and resort to calling the authorities whenever something mildly inconvenient happens to them, are the people you should stay as far away from as you possibly can. But, if you cannot stay away from these people, for example, if they are your neighbors, then you might want to consider giving them a taste of their own medicine.

Say your neighbors decided to call the cops on you because you wanted to help them out by clearing some trash out of their yard, that might actually be the perfect opportunity in disguise to get back at them. Because if the cops are going to demand you put the trash back in your neighbors' yard, you can then take a picture of this hazard, send it to the HOA, then watch and laugh as your entitled neighbors get a fine they could have easily avoided.

    Master Weasel • 2d ago The lawn treatment companies spray chemicals which can be harmful to kids and pets, so they are legally required to put up a sign in the treated yard which says to stay off the grass for 24 hours, and they have to put the date of the treatment on the sign. Once the day or two is up, you can remove the sign and throw it away.

    OP was trying to be helpful by throwing away the neighbors two week old sign, which was no longer legally required and was old and worn from the sun and weather. OP's elderly neighbors called the cops over OP removing what is basically trash in their yard.

    So when the cop put the sign back, OP took a photo to send to the HOA as it was two weeks old and not needed and an eyesore so it would be against HOA regulations, getting the neighbors a fine.
